| CLEA members demonstrate about child labor issues. |
Neither cold nor darkness dampened their enthusiasm. | Youth activists raised awareness in their community. |
Even before the CLEA grant period began in January, CLEA members from Brattleboro
Union High School (BUHS) had already engaged in planning meetings and actively
staging events such as the candlelight vigil on December 21 in Brattleboro.
The purpose of the vigil was to raise public awareness about child labor. This
was one example of many activities carried out by CLEA students during the year
to help bring about change in people's understanding and actions in order to
reduce our contribution to oppressive labor conditions, especially for children,
in the U.S. and in many other countries.
